Artist Statement

A rich international background allowed me to work with people from numerous cultural backgrounds, which shaped my approach toward art. Constantly moving from one location to the next, I lack a sense of belonging that could bound me to one place. This is reflected in my artwork as it centers around a search for one’s place. I use digital tools to create paintings that show different environments, with each having its unique atmosphere, yet the sense of desolation connects them all. A similar theme is reflected in my works in animation and comics media. Most of all, I enjoy working with media that allow me to tell a story. Painting a specific location allows building a narrative using details of the environment, leaving the viewer to explore it and get to know the person who inhabits the place without seeing them.
